Intensifying its opposition to Chhattisgarh government’s several projects on Mahanadi’s upper catchment; BJD workers today as a mark of token protest detained all Chhattisgarh bound goods trains for 30 minutes at railway stations across Odisha.
BJD workers detained Chhattisgarh bound goods trains at Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Berhampur and Raj Athgarh stations, reports said.
While BJD workers led by local MLA Ramesh Chau Patnaik detained trains at Berhampur railway station, local MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain stopped trains at Raj Athgarh railway station in Cuttack district.
Trains were also detained at Balasore, Soro, Jaleswar and Simulia railway stations in Balasore district. BJD’s district president Ananta Das and several senior leaders participated in the rail blockade.
Similarly, the party’s activists led by former MLA Anup Sai detained Chhattisgarh bound goods trains at Belpahar railway station in Jharsuguda district.
Besides, BJD workers led by local MLA Tukuni Sahu detained trains at Titilagarh railway station in Bolangir district.
