Jajpur, Nov 2:

Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal today raked up Mahanadi issue once again on the last day of its ‘Janasamparka Padayatra’. Addressing a rally held at Jaraka in Jajpur district, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik accused the Union Government of bias and vowed to continue his fight in the interests of the state -- quite like yesterday.

“Mahanadi is the lifeline of Odisha. She is like the mother for the people of the state. No one can deprive the people of the Odisha from using its water.  I will continue my fight on this front,” said Naveen leading the charge on behalf of his party.

BJP, on the other hand, alleged that the ruling party is trying to keep the issue alive for electoral gains.

“They just want mislead people and build a vote bank over Mahanadi. With panchayat polls at sight, they are playing this drama for electoral success. This is their main motive. They do not want a solution to the Mahanadi water sharing dispute,” said BJP veteran Biswa Bhusan Harichandan.
