Mahanadi, Polavaram issues to figure at BJD ‘jansampark padyatra’ in Odisha

With contentious Polavaram multi-purpose dam project and Mahanadi water dispute topping the agenda of political parities in Odisha, the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is in no mood to forego any opportunity to score over its opponents.

The BJD supremo has shot a missive to its cadres asking them to complete the extended executive committee meetings at district and block levels by September 30. During the meetings, finalise the poll strategies for the upcoming three-tier panchayat elections and preparations for the ‘jansampark padyatra’, BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik told partymen.

The party had announced to take the issues to the people during the month-long ‘padyatra’ across the state beginning October 2, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.

For the people connect rally, the BJD today announced the appointment of Pratap Keshari Jena as Chief Convenor of the padyatra committee, Padmanav Behera, Balabhadra Majhi and Pramila Mallick as its members.

Notably, BJD organises padyatra every year to highlight the welfare schemes implemented by the government. This year’s rallies would also witness the Biju Birth centenary celebrations and commemoration of 80 years of its formation as a separate state on linguistic basis.

The party chief has asked the students’, women, youth wings and other frontal organizations of the party to participate in the programme in maximum numbers.
