Mahanadi river tragedy: Another body recovered

Cuttack: The body of another teenager boy was recovered from Mahanadi river here, where three friends were swept away while taking bath near Jobra barrage under Jagatpur police limits yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Ayur Khan (18).

With this, the toll in the river tragedy mounted to two. Meanwhile, search operation is underway by ODRAF and Fire Services personnel to trace another boy, Siddique Khan (17), in the waterbody.

On the fateful day yesterday, the three teenagers were bathing in the river when one of them got swept away due to strong water current. As the two others attempted to rescue him, they went missing in the river.

Later, locals rescued one of them named Shaikh Sahil (17), a resident of Charigharia Sahi under Malgodown police limits here,  and rushed him to SCB Medical College and Hospital. However, he died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Meanwhile, CMC Mayor Subhash Singh and MLAs Mohammed Moquim and Souvik Biswal visited the spot to take stock.
