Cuttack: In a latest development in the Mahanga mass murder case, police took accused Siba Sahu to the crime spot for scene recreation on the second day of his remand period today.
Amidst tight security, the crime scene recreation was conducted in presence of Salipur SDPO Bimal Barik and Mahanga police station IIC Nihar Ranjan Mohanty. Later, the cops seized the weapon used by the accused in the crime.
On the first day of his remand yesterday, police could not interrogate Siba properly as he fell sick and was later admitted to a hospital.
In the wee hours on April 12, the accused killed his elder brother Alekha, his wife and three children, including two minor boys with sharp weapon and later locked the house from outside. He later went to Balichandrapur police station in Jajpur district to surrender. Before surrendering, the accused also released a video confessing to his crime.

The incident is being investigated from all angles. Police said they are waiting for the viscera report to find out if the accused had intoxicated the five family members before killing them.
