Mahaprasad rate chart in Jagannath temple of Odisha’s Puri yet to be finalised

Puri: The rate chart for Abadha Mahaprasad in Puri Jagannath temple could not be finalised in a meeting of the Srimandir disciplinary committee held here today to regulate Ananda Bazaar of the shrine. No decision could also be arrived at regarding the free distribution of Mahaprasad to devotees.

Non-Mahasuar servitors have already been identified and forced out of Ananda Bazaar. However, two persons can be deployed by Suar Mahasuar servitors to assist them alone, an official source said.

Ample provision of drinking water for devotees coming to the shrine, establishment of a help desk at Ananda Bazaar, regular cleaning of the area, and construction of sheds in place of polythene tents could help improve the present condition, the servitors’ outfit (Nijog) proposed in the meeting.

It was decided to prepare the Mahaprasad with pure cow ghee and construct a road after demolishing two makeshift Khaja Bhog shops to facilitate the movement of people in Ananda Bazaar.

The meeting was chaired by Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Special Administrator Ajay Kumar Jena and was attended by Suar Mahasuar Nijog and several SJTA officials.
