Mahima Mishra moves Odisha HC for bail

Odisha Stevedores Ltd (OSL) chief Mahimananda Mishra aka Mahima Mishra today moved the Orissa High Court seeking bail in the Seaways Shipping & Logistics Pvt Ltd (SSLPL) General Manager Mahendra Swain murder case.

The Jagatsinghpur District and Sessions Judge had on Monday rejected Mishra’s bail plea. Mishra moved the High Court today challenging the lower court’s order.

Notably, the police had issued lookout circulars against Mishra and other officials of OSL after SSLPL General Manager Swain was shot dead by miscreants on October 27 last year.

Deceased Swain’s elder brother Rajkishore Swain had lodged an FIR at the Paradip police station alleging involvement of OSL officials in his brother’s murder.

Mishra, another director of OSL Basant Kumar Bal and two senior officials of OSL Debi Prasad Tripathy and Subash Acharya had moved the High court seeking anticipatory bails.

Later, Mishra and Bal were arrested from Bangkok in Thailand and later brought to Odisha.

It was after Kujang JMFC court rejected Mishra’s bail plea, he had moved the Jagatsinghpur District and Sessions Court.
