‘Mahima sect has put Odisha on spiritual map of India’

Bhubaneswar: The Mahima Dharma (sect) has brought a special identity for Joranda in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on the spiritual map of India, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today.

The Chief Minister participated in the ground-breaking ceremony (Bhoomi Poojana) for renovation of Mahima Gadi (Peetha) at Joranda.

The state government has sanctioned Rs 112 crore for the renovation of Mahima Gadi.

“Mahima sect preaches universal brotherhood, simplicity in life and welfare of all. The message and teachings of Saint Bhima Bhoi of Mahima sect will always inspire us to devote ourselves to the common good,” said the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister further revealed that Mahima Gadi renovation work will commence soon and the project will be completed within three years. He also sought the cooperation of the local people for proper implementation of the project.

The state government will renovate Sunya Mandap, Upasana Peeth and Bati Mandap of Mahima Gadi as part of the renovation project. Besides, it will carry out some periphery development work in the locality, sources said.

Participating in the event, Steel and Mines Minister PK Mallik said the Odisha government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, is committed to propagate the tenets of Mahima sect in the society.

Among others, Dhenkanal MP Mahesh Sahoo and MLAs Sudhir Kumar Samal, Nrusingha Charan Sahoo and Simarani Nayak were present on the occasion.
