Maid found hanging at hotel owner’s residence in Odisha’s Rourkela

Rourkela: A housemaid was found hanging at her employer’s residence at Udit Nagar in the Steel City here Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as Birasmani Badaika of K Balanga area of Odisha’s Sundargarh district.

Birasmani was working as a maid at Hotel Amrut Sagar owner’s residence for last several days. She was staying in a room at his employer’s residence, sources said.

Birasmani was found hanging inside her room Friday night. She was immediately rushed to IGH Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

“Birasmani talked to me over phone Thursday night. She was very much happy. I could not believe that she is no more with us,” said the deceased maid’s sister, who resides in Kuaramuda area near Rourkela.

The police have launched a probe into the incident.
