Main accused in Barang liquor trader murder arrested

Odisha police arrested the prime accused in the sensational Barang liquor trader murder from Chennai, police sources said today.


The prime accused—Padia—was arrested from the capital city of southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu yesterday, according to police sources.

Earlier, police had arrested six accomplices of Padia. The accused has given police the slip every time they zeroed in on him. Therefore, the law-enforcement officers lying low for a while kept tracking the different mobile numbers of the accused. They had also kept an eye on his movement.

After frantic efforts, police had seized the murder weapon and arrested the six accused namely Babaji Sahu, Bibhuti Sahu, Tulu Pradhan, Basudev Pradhan ,Trilochan Sahu and a minor allegedly involved in the murder of the trader.

On October 23 last year, a liquor shop owner was killed and Rs 1 lakh looted from him by unidentified miscreants in Madhupur area of Barang on the outskirts of capital city.
