Berhampur: Ganjam district administration today sealed Ganesh Market, one of the busiest wholesale market in Berhampur, after shops located inside it were found defying lockdown rules.
While the district administration has enforced lockdown till June 30 with effect from today, many non essential shops dealing with electronic appliances and mobile phone sales and services at the market complex were found open today violating the norms. On receiving the information on operation of the non-essential shops, a team led by Ganjam Sub-Collector Shinde Dattatraya Bhausaheb went to the spot and sealed the market till June 30.
Earlier yesterday, Ganjam Collector declared lockdown in the entire district till Jun 30 keeping in view the existing COVID-19 situation and to curb community transmission of the virus .
“As of now, there has been no community spread of the deadly virus in the district. But we have to take steps for its prevention. Please cooperate,” appealed Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange.
