Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today sealed the Unit-1 haat, one of the main markets in the state capital, for mass violation of COVID appropriate behavior.

The Unit-I haat (both wholesale and retail) will remain closed until July 1, 2021.

"After our enforcement squads and police personnel reported large scale violation of COVID-19 safety norms inside the market on June 23, we decided to seal it in larger public interest and to contain any possibility of the virus transmission," informed a BMC official.

Earlier in the day, Unit-4 non-veg market and Bapuji Nagar market in the city reopened after being sealed for a week for violation of COVID protocols.
