Major fire at Seva Samabaya Samiti office in Odisha’s Balasore

Bhograi: A major fire broke out at an office of Seva Samabaya Samiti at Bhograi in Odisha’s Balasore district in the wee hours today.

The valuables including office documents and computers were gutted in the fire incident.

According to reports, the functioning of Seva Samabaya Samiti office at Chakapalasia under Bhograi block was disrupted as employees staged a dharna in the past few days.

The fire erupted at the office reportedly due to a short circuit last night.

On receiving information, the fire brigade personnel reached the office and controlled the fire.

“The staff had locked the office due to the strike. After the fire broke out, I immediately reached the cooperative office and informed the fire brigade. The locals and fire services personnel started operations to douse the flames. However, all documents and valuables might have been gutted in the fire,” informed Chakapalasia Seva Samabaya Samiti President Shyamsundar Rout.

“The cooperative office was shut due to indefinite strike. I received a call from president Shyamsundar Rout about the fire incident at around 4 am today. The fire might have broken out due to short circuit. All the valuables at the office are assumed to be destroyed in the incident,” said Chakapalasia Seva Samabaya Samiti director.
