Boudh: Drugs and electrical appliances worth lakhs were gutted after a major fire broke out at the medicine godown of the district headquarters hospital in Odisha's Boudh on Wednesday.
The blaze was brought under control by the fire services late in the night. A short circuit is suspected to have led to the fire, sources said.
As per reports, hospital staff living in the government quarters saw smoke coming out of the godown and raised an alarm. Fire services team after getting information reached the spot and doused the fire.
But by the time the flame was doused, medicines, injections, electrical appliances including the deep freezer and air conditioner had been reduced to ashes. The godown in-charge said the exact assessment of the loss will be ascertained after the probe.
Fire services team informed that the primary cause of fire appears to be a short circuit but the exact reason will be established after a thorough investigation.
