Major fire engulfs electronics shop in Odisha’s Sundergarh

Sundergarh: A major fire engulfed an electronics shop located at Koida Square in Odisha’s Sundergarh district late on Saturday night.

All the electronics household appliances at the shop ‘Jitu Electronics’ were gutted in the fire mishap.

According to reports, the fire broke out at the shop in wee hours of Saturday. An employee of the shop spotted the smoke coming out of the structure at around 2.00 am and immediately informed the fire services department.

On receiving information, a fire brigade team rushed to the spot to douse the flame.

Though exact cause behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained, short circuit is suspected to be the reason behind it.

Sources said that goods worth Rs 30 lakh and Rs 4 lakh cash were burnt to ashes in the incident.

The fire was so massive that it took the firefighters long hours to douse the flames.

“Four fire tenders were pressed into action and it took almost 5 hours to put out the blaze,” said Deepak Kumar Jena, Station Officer, Koida Fire Station, Sundergarh.
