Bhubaneswar: Odisha may witness a major reshuffle in IPS cadre in the upcoming days with change of Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma’s position as the DGP.
Reliable sources said that the process has begun for the appointment of DGP Dr RP Sharma as Lokayukta member within a couple of months.
The selection committee has recommended Dr Sharma’s name to the Governor for his appointment as the Lokayukta member. The notification in this regard is likely to be published after approval from the Governor.
According to reports, the DGP selection will be made as per the guidelines by the Supreme Court for the first time in Odisha.
As per the apex court guidelines, a list of names recommended by the state government will be sent to the UPSC for DGP appointment.
Sources said that the Chief Minister may recommend the list of officers of 1986, 1987 and 1988 batches to the Centre for new DGP appointment.
