Make In Odisha: Here’s Odisha CM’s freewheeling chat with investors  

Bhubaneswar: After addressing the vast gathering at the 2nd edition of the Make In Odisha conclave here, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik opened the floor for an one-on-one chat with the investors.

Excerpts 

Answering to a question of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, the CM said as far as investment is concerned, we are eager to take advantage of our natural resources. Our mineral assets should be developed and properly utilised and bring jobs to our people. Besides minerals, we would also like to develop industries in many other areas. And we are steady succeeding in that.

As far as sports is concerned, sports is for the youth and youth is future. We have been developing sports facilities. I would like to thank Kumar Mangalam Birla  for the State-of-art shooting institute that is being putting up here that will hopefully produce Olympic players.

—Replying to a query by Anil Agarwal, Founder and Chairman, Vedanta Resource Plc, Patnaik said we do have a lot of potentials for tourism in our State. We are working very hard in this particular sector and it is certainly being coming up very well.

—Replying to a question on skill development raised by Sajjan Jindal, Chairman, JSW Group, the CM said we have an excellent policy. We have partnership with Singapore trough which almost 100 ITI teachers went there as far as skill development is concerned.We are working very hard in this sector that we want people to say that ‘Are you skilled or are you skilled in Odisha?”

— Replying to Sangeeta Reddy,Joint Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals, Patnaik said as far as environment is concerned, we Odias are very tree-loving people and Odisha is among the few States where the tree cover has grown more than the national average. As far as health is concerned, we have a policy. While the Union Government’s policy is only for BPL people, our health coverage is for everyone. It is universal.
