Man accused of raping minor girl in Odisha capital arrested

The Twin City Commissionerate police arrested an absconder on Monday on charges of raping a minor girl and forwarded him to court.

According to police, the accused identified as Dibakar Swain alias Dibani of Unit–VII area was on a visit to the victim’s house in a slum of the area on August 3 last year.

However, the minor girl was alone in home at that time and Dibakar raped her taking the advantage of her family members’ absence.

He also threatened her of dire consequences if she disclosed the incident.

The victim’s family had filed a complaint at Capital police station following the incident.

Police were on action to nab the rape accused registering a case but he went absconding after committing the crime.

Yesterday acting on a tip-off that Dibani was at home, police conducted a surprise raid and arrested him.

He was forwarded to court after arrest, informed a police official.
