Man allegedly poisons wife over family feud in Odisha’s Ganjam, detained

Berhampur: A man was detained today for allegedly poisoning his wife following an altercation over a family matter in Sanabadangi village under Sorada police limits of Ganjam district.

As per an FIR lodged at Sorada police station by family members of the victim, the accused decided to kill the woman and accordingly, he poisoned her. However, this allegation was refuted by the man’s family members saying that the woman died by suicide for reasons not known yet.

Acting on the FIR, Sorada police launched an investigation to find out the actual cause as to how the woman died, which is still underway. A probe team has detained the man for interrogation. Police have sent the body to a nearby health facility for post-mortem, a senior official informed.

“The reason behind the woman’s alleged death can only be ascertained after a post-mortem report comes in,” the official of Sorada police station expressed.
