Kabisuryanagar: Police today claimed to have cracked a death mystery in which a woman and her minor daughter died on October 7 due to a snake bite. The husband of the victim woman had released a venomous snake into the living room of his house with the intention to kill the mother-daughter duo.

The incident was then reported from Adheibaraga village under Kabisuryanagar police limits of Ganjam district. The accused man has been identified as K Ganesh Patra from the village.

Later, the woman’s family had lodged an FIR alleging murder, acting on which, a probe team initiated a detailed probe and cracked the death mystery, Kabisuryanagar IIC Prabhat Kumar Sahoo said.

The couple was often indulging in altercations and the murder was the fallout of a family feud. Ganesh had decided to eliminate his wife once and for all and brought a venomous reptile from another man.

Initially, an unnatural death (U/d) case was registered which was subsequently converted to a murder case. During the investigation, the accused admitted to his crime leading to his arrest. Ganesh was forwarded to a local court later in the day following his arrest, Kabisuryanagar IIC expressed.

However, accused Ganesh refuted the charges saying it to be baseless when asked by mediapersons.
