Man arrested for raping blind girl in Odisha

Police today arrested a person of Solagadia village under Nihalprasad police limits in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district for allegedly raping a blind girl of the same village.

The accused identified as Ramesh Dehury after being arrested was medically examined at Gondia Sri Ramchandrapur PHC Sub Centre.

According to reports, a blind girl of Solagadia, who used to eke out a living by selling papads in the village had left her home for selling papads at around 4 PM on Thursday.

It was evening by the time she was returning to her home after selling papad, as it was raining she took shelter on the verandah of Dehury’s house.

On finding the blind girl alone Dehury allegedly dragged her inside his house and raped her.

After much effort, she managed to escape from his clutches and on reaching home narrated her harrowing experience to her mother.

Later, she and her mother lodged a complaint at the Nihalprasad police station.
