Man attempts to rape niece in Odisha; wife threatens to kill her

Rourkela: In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old girl of Timber Colony here alleged that her uncle attempted to rape her inside their house yesterday. Moreover, when she managed to escape from his clutches, her uncle and aunt threatened her of dire consequences if she discloses the matter to anyone.

However, the girl today lodged a complaint at Plant Site police station here in this connection.

Reportedly, the minor girl lost her father in 2015 and mother in 2017, following which she and his two brothers aged 10 and 13 years went to his grandfather’s house in Patna of Bihar. However, her grandfather allegedly used to torture the three siblings both mentally and physically. Later, she lodged a police complaint and came back to her house here along with her two brothers.

However, plight of the three children did not end there. When they reached their house at Timber Colony here, their uncle and aunt had acquired their house. Later, their uncle Krushna Singh stopped their studies and engaged one of the boys in a jewellery shop as a servant. He also used to beat the girl and her 10-year-old brother for no reason.

As per the complaint, on Tuesday, Krushna Singh came home in inebriated condition and finding the girl alone, he touched her inappropriately and tried to rape her.  When she escaped, Krushna and his wife threatened her to kill three of them if she discloses the matter to anyone. In fact, her aunt Khushbu Devi attacked her with a knife. The girl sustained injuries near her right eye in the attack.

Lodging a written complaint, the girl urged the Plant Site police to provide them protection and justice. However, no arrest was made in this connection til last reports came in.
