Man axed to death by daughter-in-law in Odisha’s Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: A man was allegedly axed to death by his daughter-in-law following a heated argument over family issue here in the district.

The deceased person has been identified as Benudhar Pradha. The incident occurred at Kuturia village under Parajang police limits in Dhenkanal district yesterday night.

The accused daughter-in-law Yashoda Pradhan has also been injured in the incident. She was hospitalised for treatment.

According to reports, Benudhar and Yashoda indulged into heated argument over some matter in the family at around 9 pm. The argument gradually turned violent following which both father-in-law and daughter-in-law attacked each other with an axe.

During confrontation, the woman allegedly hacked her father-in-law to death with the fatal weapon. She also sustained injuries during the violent fight.

The locals rushed both victim and accused to Parajang Community Health Centre where the doctors declared Benudhar dead. As the health condition of Yashoda was stated to be critical, she was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Dhenkanal, for treatment.

The police initiated the probe into the incident.
