Man beaten to death by niece in Odisha; accused held

Balasore: In a shocking incident, a 50-year-old man was allegedly killed by his niece over family dispute at Sahada village under Sadar police limits in Balasore district today.

The deceased has been identified as Teli Singh.

Reportedly, Gurubari Soren (40) had a heated argument with her maternal uncle over various issues last night. When Teli rebuked his niece in filthy language, the latter started beating his head with a wooden plank leaving him critically-injured. He was immediately rushed to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) here. However, he died while undergoing treatment in wee hours today.

Though the exact reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, police have registered a case in this connection and detained accused Gurubari for interrogation.
