Man beats wife to death in drunken state in Odisha’s Dhenkanal, arrested

The accused, identified as Astama Khatua, was nabbed with brother Siba Khatua while they were on their way to bury Mamata's body in a nearby jungle

Parjang: Police arrested a man for allegedly beating his wife to death in an inebriated state in Parjang block of Odisha’s Dhenkanal district here today. The deceased was identified as Mamata Khatua (35) of Ambapaalas village in Parjang.

The accused, identified as Astama Khatua, was nabbed with brother Siba Khatua while they were on their way to bury Mamata’s body in a nearby jungle. Sources said Astama committed the crime while he was drunk.

Police recovered the body for postmortem and informed that the exact cause of death will be ascertained after the autopsy report arrives. The accused duo are being interrogated and further investigation is underway, official sources said.
