Khaira: A woman died after severely being beaten by her husband following an altercation late last night at Asuria village under Khaira police limits in Balasore district. The incident came to the fore after some neighbours of the couple informed police today morning.
The deceased woman was identified as Kanchan Parida and her husband as Ramakanta Parida.
According to a source, the alleged killing was a fallout of a family feud. A verbal spat ensued between the couple over a matter not known yet. Things took an ugly turn when, in a fit of rage, Ramakanta beat his wife leading to her untimely death. Kanchan collapsed on the ground and later died.
On being informed, Khaira police reached the spot and seized the body of Kanchan. Police have detained the accused man and he is being interrogated to gather more information.
Ramakanta is a history-sheeter and was involved in several other cases including the attack and murder of a youth from Asuria village with a dagger around seven years ago. The accused man is also a bootlegger involved in the illegal trade of liquor, some residents of Asuria village said.
