Man bludgeoned to death in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj over eve-teasing

A man was allegedly beaten to death today in Bangalidahi under Baisinga police limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district over eve-teasing.

According to reports, the deceased identified as Jabunia Chutta alias Tutu Singh was allegedly beaten to death by three of his relatives owing which he died on the spot.

The 43-year-old allegedly misbehaved with a minor girl of the village, who happens to be his relative. When the girl raised an alarm, Tiger Singh, Churmura Banku Singh and Radha Singh came to her rescue and confronted him. The spat, however, turned ugly and the trio allegedly beat him to death.

Following the incident, the trio dumped the body at Bangalidahi Chhak and fled the spot.

Based on complaints of Tutu Singh’s cousin, Baisinga police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident after registering a case under section 302 and 34 of IPC.

Police swung into action and raided several places to nab the accused. The cops were successful in apprehending one of the accused Tiger Singh from Patalipura. However, the two other accused are at large.

The body was sent for post-mortem and the lathis used in the murder have been seized.

Further investigations are on.
