Man burns self in front of police station in Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: A man reportedly set himself on fire in front of the Kishan Nagar police station in Salepur area of Cuttack district, today.

The victim, identified as Gunanidhi Bisoi (52) of Ishani Brahmapur village, sustained critical burn injuries in the incident and was hospitalised.

According to reports, Bisoi set himself ablaze at around 11 am after pouring petrol on his body. Cops present at the police station rescued him in a critical condition and rushed him to the SCB Medical and Hospital here for treatment.

Bisoi was thrashed and injured by a youth while he had lodged a complaint with the police, four days ago. He used to vist the police station everyday since then seeking justice.

He took the extreme step as police didn’t take any action against the accused, reports said.

Tension ran high in the area after the incident as locals have questioned the efficiency of the local police.
