Man convicted of raping, killing minor girl in Odisha’s Salepur

Cuttack: A POCSO court today convicted a person in the sensational Salepur rape and murder case.

The court held accused Mohammed Mustaque guilty while the quantum of punishment will be pronounced tomorrow.

Mustaque had on April 21, 2018 raped a six-year-old girl near a school at a village under Salepur police limits. He had also crushed her head with a stone leaving her seriously injured.

She was rescued by villagers and admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, where she succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment on April 29, last year.

Odisha Crime Branch had designated the case as a ‘Red Flag’ one.
