Nayagarh: A man was allegedly killed and his father and younger brother sustained grievous injuries in a clash over land dispute at Bhutadihi village under Itamati police limits in Nayagarh district, today.
The deceased man was identified as Dandu Parida, the elder son of Jagadev Parida from Lathipada.
The attacking family was identified as Jagu Rout from Bhutadihi village in the district and his sons.
According to a police source, the families of Jagadev Parida and Jagu Rout had a dispute over a patch of land since long ago. The matter was to be resolved by the village committee. However, Jagu Rout and his sons attacked the family members of Jagadev in the afternoon when Dandu Parida, his father, and younger brother were working at their sugarcane juice unit near Bhutadihi Chhak. Dandu died on the spot following the murderous attack, the official source added.
The injured father-son duo was rescued by some locals and was immediately admitted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Nayagarh town for treatment in critical condition. Later, they were shifted to a health facility in Bhubaneswar after their conditions deteriorated.
On being informed, Itamati police reached the spot and seized the body of Dandu, and sent it to hospital for post-mortem. Police have registered a case in this connection and initiated a probe.
