Man dead, wife critical after coming in contact with live wire in Odisha’s Subarnapur

Sonepur: A man was electrocuted and his wife sustained grievous injuries today as they came in contact with a live wire on their rooftop at Gandabahal village under Ullunda block in Subarnapur.

Identities of the deceased and injured woman have not been ascertained yet, a senior cop said.

The man got electrocuted and died on the spot, a neighbour of the couple expressed.

The injured was rescued by some neighbours and rushed to a nearby health facility for treatment in critical condition. Later, she was shifted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla after her condition deteriorated. She is now undergoing treatment and is not free from danger, a doctor of VIMSAR treating the injured informed.

Local police have registered a case in this connection and launched a probe.
