Man ends life after killing 3-month-old son in Odisha over family dispute

Nuapada: The family dispute turned ugly when a man ended his life after reportedly killing his three-month-old son in Komna area of Nuapada district today.

The man, identified as Nilu Shabara of Chandopala village under Pendaraband panchayat under Komna police limits was working as a migrant labourer at a factory in Mumbai. Due to the lockdown the factory was shut, following which Nilu came back to Odisha.

Nilu along with his family was sent to an institutional quarantine at Goijora under Agrena panchayat after his return in view of the COVID-19 situation. Later he stayed at a relative’s house in Dumerbahal village.

The couple engaged in a quarrel at noon today. In a fit of rage, Nilu then killed his baby son and committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree.

Based on a complaint filed by Nilu’s wife Belamati Shabar at Komna police station, the cops reached the spot and seized both the bodies.

As per latest reports, police investigation into the matter is on.
