Man gets 10 yrs RI for raping minor in Odisha

The Additional District Sessions Judge Court in Odisha’s Nabarangpur today sentenced a person to 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) after convicting him on charges of raping a minor girl.

Additional District Sessions Judge Gourimali Maharana sentenced Sukaman Panaka to 10 years RI and in addition to that imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 to be realized from him.

According to case records, Sukaman of Kalarapada village under Jharigan police limits had on the evening of September 16, 2014, kidnapped a minor girl from the same village and had raped her. An FIR was registered at Jharigan police station in this connection. Sukaman was arrested by the police and forwarded to court.

The court convicted Sukaman after examining depositions of 12 witnesses.
