Man gets life imprisonment for killing woman in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Sundargarh: A man was sentenced to life imprisonment by an SDJM court in Rourkela today, for killing a woman in Sundargarh district of Odisha six years back.

The accused, identified as Anil Xalxo, was also slapped with a fine of Rs 2,000, which if failed to pay, would attract additional jail term. The sentence was awarded after hearing 11 witnesses.

As per reports,Anil  had reportedly beaten one Surei Kisapata of Kadalibahal village within Bisra police limits while the latter was trying to resolve a dispute between him and his wife.  In June 2017, Anil had gone to Kadalibahal to sort out issues with his wife. Surei was reportedly mediating between the duo and hellping them sort out their issues. However, the matter flared up and Anil, in a fit of rage, started beating up Surei with an iron rod. As Surei suffered critical injuries, she was immediately rushed to a hospital but she succumbed during treatment.

After the incident, one Manoj Kujur filed a police complaint after which Anil was arrested.
