Man gets lifer for killing 5-year-old son in Odisha

Rourkela: The Court of Additional District Judge-I here today sentenced a person to life imprisonment for killing his 5-year-old son in 2019.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on convict Hunda Oram of Bondamunda area. In the case of non-payment of the fine, he will have to undergo an additional imprisonment of one year.

According to reports, Hunda had murdered his son on June 24, 2019 by slitting the child’s throat with a knife. The accused was suspecting that the boy was not his child biologically, for which he took the extreme step.

Police had later arrested Hunda and forwarded him to court. Adjudicating the case, the court awarded him life imprisonment.

As many as 14 witnesses were cross examined during the trial.
