Man gets lifer for raping 3-year-old girl in Odisha’s Khordha district

Bhubaneswar: A special fast track court dealing with POCSO cases today awarded life imprisonment to a person after convicting him in connection with the rape of a three-year-old girl in Balianta area of Khordha district in 2016.

Balianta police had arrested accused Laxman Bindhani after registering a case in this regard. The victim’s family had lodged a police complaint and sought stringent action against Bindhani.

The fast track court convicted Bindhani on the basis of police investigation and sentenced him to life imprisonment, said Special Public Prosecutor Rajiv Samal.

Notably, the state government has set up several fast track courts in Odisha for speedy trial of POSCO cases.
