Man hacked to death by younger brother in Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhadrak: A person was hacked to death by his younger brother allegedly over property dispute in Basudevpur area of Bhadrak district today.

The deceased has been identified as Bhagaban Barik, a resident of Naikanidihi village under Basudevpur block.

According to source, the 58-year-old Bhagaban Barik had gone outside the home to attend nature’s call in the morning. While returning to home, his brother Ratnakar Behera (45), who was looking for him on the way, attacked him with a billhook following which he died on the spot.

The villagers handed over the accused brother to the police while he was trying to escape the place.

The police arrested Ratnakar and seized the body of his elder brother.

Though the reason behind murder by younger brother is yet to be ascertained, property dispute is suspected to be the major reason.  However, police initiated probe into the matter.
