Man hacked to death over dispute regarding fish farming in Odisha’s Subarnapur

Birmaharajpur: A man was hacked to death allegedly by nephew following a dispute over fish farming in Ulunda area of Subarnapur district today evening. The deceased was identified as Pawan Sethi (50) of Mundiapali village. As per reports, Pawan’s son Sachita had an argument with nephew Himanshu earlier in the day over fishing at a pond.

Worth mentioning, Pawan and Himanshu undertook fish farming at the pond in the village and there was a simmering tension over fishing.

After Pawan intervened, Sachita and Himanshu relented and stopped the heated argument this afternoon.

Later this evening while Pawan went to the other side of the village on a cycle, nephew Himanshu reached the spot on a motorcycle. With a sharp weapon Himanshu hacked Pawan and crushed his face with a stone. Following the incident, the accused fled the spot.

Family members of Pawan rescued him in a critical condition and admitted to the Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

After receiving information, the Birmaharajpur police reached the spot and sent the body for post mortem.

A police official said the motorcycle used by the accused was seized and further investigation is on.
