Man hacks woman cop in Odisha, arrested

Sambalpur: A man was arrested today for allegedly trying to kill a woman constable in Odisha’s Sambalpur district.

The incident occurred at Danipalli village under Ainthapali police limits in the district.

The victim, Rasmi Rekha Dixit, was admitted to VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla in critical condition.

Rasmi Rekha is working as a constable with Sambalpur Town police.

According to sources, the woman constable and her sister were staying in a rented house at Kulatapada area in the district. House owner Sapan Chakraborty had hacked Rasmi Rekha and her sister Gitirekha with a sharp weapon this afternoon leaving the two injured.

The exact reason behind the attack is yet to be known. However, the police have arrested the house owner following a complaint and started inquiry.
