Nuapada: Tragedy struck a family as a man died by suicide after killing his son with a fatal weapon here in the district.

The incident was reported from Fokatpada village under Dharambandha police limits on Thursday night.

According to reports, Sabit Rout, son of Nakul Rout, had migrated to other state for work. A few days ago, he had returned to home at Fokatpada village.

Source said that the 35-year-old Sabit, who was in inebriated condition, indulged into fight with his father Nakul Rout over parking his motorcycle at home last night. The 55-year-old Nakul, who was also drunk, attacked his son with an axe during the tussle. The youth succumbed to injuries on the spot following which the accused lost his mental balance in grief. Later, the traumatised father hanged self with a plastic rope inside his home.

On receiving information, Dharambandha police reached the house today morning and recovered two bodies.

The bodies will be handed over to the family after post-mortem at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), informed IIC Sanjukta Barla.
