Man held for peddling brown sugar in Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhadrak: The Central Excise Intelligence officials today arrested a youth for his alleged involvement in drug peddling in Bankasahi area in Bhadrak district today.

Acting on reliable information, the sleuths raided a house in Bankasahi and arrested Harish Chandra Mohanty. They seized 60 grams brown sugar estimated to be around Rs 2 lakh from his possession.

Excise official sources said Harish was involved in drug peddling for past many months. He is also suspected to be involved in smuggling of brown sugar to Balasore and Bhubaneswar.

The tentacles of illegal brown sugar trade have spread to different parts of the State which is evident from the seizure of the contraband item in Bhubaneswar, Balasore, Jajpur and Puri.
