Man held for raping 60-yr-old differently abled woman in Odisha

Police have detained a man for allegedly raping a 60-year-old differently abled woman in Baghiabandh village in Tabda panchayat under Riyamal police limits in Odisha’s Deogarh district.

Police have detained one Bhabagrahi Thakur of Kudalipal village on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim’s brother on Saturday.

“We have got both the accused as well as the victim medically examined at Chhatabar Community Health Centre (CHC). We have registered a case and have detained the accused for interrogation,” said Inspector In-Charge of Riyamal police station Sudarshan Jena today.

According to police sources, accused Bhabagrahi Thakur of Kudalipali village under Tabda panchayat who was allegedly in an inebriated state on the afternoon of February 28, lifted the victim, a 60-year-old differently abled woman from the road to a desolate place near a canal and raped her.

The shameful incident occurred while the entire village was busy in merry-making in a marriage ceremony in the village, sources added.
