Man held for thrashing on-duty cop in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: A person was detained for allegedly thrashing an on-duty police official of Mancheswar police station at Rasulgarh Square here today.

The offender identified as Bikash Senapati of Kendrapara district was staying in Maninageswari Basti here.

Sources said Sub-Inspector Bidyadhar Sahu was on duty at Rasulgarh Square for helmet checking this morning. The cop detained Senapati since he was driving without wearing helmet. However, the latter got off his bike and started arguing with the police official instead. He also allegedly thrashed the SI on the spot.

Later, police detained the man and produced him before court here.
