Man held in Odisha’s Keonjhar for extortion, blackmail

Keonjhar: The district police today arrested a person on charges of blackmailing and extorting money from people by threatening them to file RTI application against them.

The arrested has been identified as Sashibhusan Patnaik (55), a resident of Keonjhar town.

Some private organisations had recently lodged a complaint with Keonjhar Town police alleging that Patnaik extorted money from them after threatening them of obtaining information about the organisations through RTI application.

The accused is being interrogated at the police station for ascertaining the amount of money collected by him from various persons.
