Bhubaneswar, Feb 22:

The Kharvela Nagar Police in the Odisha capital today arrested a 30-year-old man, a pimp by profession, for allegedly killing a 45-year-old female sex worker.

The arrested, identified as Bhakar Naik, was later produced in a local court here.

According to police, Naik, who was staying in a live-in relationship with Sujata Patra, a female sex worker at Mali Sahi slum, had a quarrel with her in the night on February 20.

Later, he severely assaulted her with an iron rod in an inebriated state.

She was rushed to the Capital Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries in the next morning.

The body was later taken for post mortem.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case and begun investigation.
