Man held with fake currency notes in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today arrested a person on charges of possessing fake currency notes in the Odisha capital here.

Accused Bikas Baliarsingh of Khurda was reportedly caught with the fake currency notes while he was trying to exchange them at the regional office of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) here, sources said.

“The accused reached the RBI regional office to exchange some old notes. During verification, the RBI officials found that the notes submitted by the accused were fake ones,” said a source.

On being informed, Kharvel Nagar police reached the spot and arrested the accused.

The police have seized at least 100 pieces of fake Rs 500 notes from the possession of the accused, sources said.
