Man injured in firing as miscreants loot ornaments from wife in Odisha

Koraput, Dec 19:

A man was seriously injured after being shot at by three miscreants who looted ornaments from his wife near Borigumma in Odisha’s Koraput district this morning.

pistolAccording to reports, P Ashok and his wife P Sunita of Borigumma were on the way to Jeypore on a bike when they were followed by three miscreants on a bike from Haradapur Chhak near Borigumma.

They intercepted the couple between Ambaguda and Randapali on National Highway-26 and looted the gold chain and bangles from Sunita and opened fire at Ashok as he tried to resist them. The incident took place at about 10 AM.

The miscreants fled the area immediately after looting the couple.

Ashok, was sustained bullet injuries on his stomach, was rushed to the Jeypore government hospital from where he was later shifted to Koraput district headquarters hospital. His condition was stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants.
