Bhubaneswar: A man was allegedly thrashed to death at a de-addiction centre under Dhauli police limits on the outskirts of Odisha capital.

The deceased was identified as Chhabi Nayak.

According to reports, he was admitted to the de-addiction centre, three months ago. However, he was being tortured at the centre, his family members alleged.

An employee of the centre telephoned the family members of Nayak at around 3 am informing them that his health condition was poor.

Shockingly, they were later informed about his death in the morning.

Police have recovered the body and sent it to the Capital Hospital here for post-mortem. Further probe by police was underway.
