Man kills elder brother over assaulting wife in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Sundargarh: A man allegedly killed his elder brother at Harapali village in Kuarmunda area of Odisha’s Sundargarh district yesterday as the latter assaulted his wife.

The deceased was identified as Suku Lakra (37). Accused Bandhnu Lakra (28) has been detained by police for questioning.

According to reports, Suku used to create ruckus in the house after consuming liquor. Yesterday around 4 pm, he scolded the family members while being in an inebriated state and also thrashed his younger brother’s wife.

Bandhnu became furious over the incident and attacked his elder brother with a wooden plank. Suku sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the Kuarmunda Community Health Centre for treatment.

As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to the Rourkela Government Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
