Man kills wife for giving birth to girl child in Odisha capital

A person allegedly thrashed his wife to death after she gave birth to a baby girl. The shocking incident took place at Gadamahaveer under Lingaraj police limits in Odisha capital.

The deceased woman has been identified as Tilotama Sahu.

According to reports, Surendra Sahu, Tilotama’s husband and an auto-rickshaw driver by profession, had married her four years ago. While Tilotama had given birth to a girl child a year after the marriage, she delivered another baby girl a week ago.

A quarrel ensued between the two on Thursday over the birth of another girl child. Surendra lost his cool and thrashed Tilotama following which her condition became critical.

She was rushed to Capital Hospital here but doctors declared her brought dead there.

The woman’s brother lodged a complaint at the Lingaraj police station alleging that his sister has been murdered. Based on the complaint, police arrested Surendra and forwarded him to court.
